About:

Not too long ago, I realized despite feeling like I was a creative person, with lots of artistic energy floating around, I had no where to let it take root and grow.

Lab 8 Tokyo

Welcome to Lab 8

Located in the Osaki area of Shinagawa, Lab 8 offers a tranquil retreat from the bustling tourist crowds of Ginza, Shibuya, and Kabukicho.

Here, you can unwind in a real neighborhood, where summer days invite you to roll up the gate and greet neighbors as they stroll by with their dogs. Enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine while soaking in the local vibe.

How It Started

A few years ago, one evening over pints of German beer with a carpenter friend, we dreamed of designing and building an art space that would serve as both an Airbnb rental and a community creative hub.

In a city filled with bright lights and shopping centers, it can be challenging to find a place that fosters genuine connections. Lab 8 was born from the idea that if you’re going to get lost in Tokyo, you might as well make a few friends along the way. This space is my art project, and I’m excited to share it with you.

Every piece of furniture is designed and handcrafted with the belief that your surroundings should inspire creative, playful thinking. With this vision, we aim to engage and connect with travelers, artists, local businesses, and craftspeople. As we support each other, we can watch our creative energy flourish.
