Not too long ago, I realized despite feeling like I was a creative person, with lots of artistic energy floating around, I had no where to let it take root and grow.

Welcome to Lab 8
Located in the Osaki area of Shinagawa, Lab 8 offers a tranquil retreat from the bustling tourist crowds of Ginza, Shibuya, and Kabukicho.
Here, you can unwind in a real neighborhood, where summer days invite you to roll up the gate and greet neighbors as they stroll by with their dogs. Enjoy a cup of coffee or a glass of wine while soaking in the local vibe.
How It Started
One day I was talking to my carpenter friend about creating an art space in central Tokyo that would serve as a home for travelers and a community creative hub. He said to me, ‘Why in the city? All boring apartments and small.’ I smiled and said, ‘That’s why I need your talent and my ideas to spin the city.’
Magically, a unique half-basement apartment appeared right in front of us. This is how we began building this mystic, warm, and creative place—Lab8 Tokyo.

I’m Li, a Taiwanese native raised in Taiwan, educated in the USA, and now living with my daughter and several pets in Japan. My dream has always been to share creative energy, encourage play, and foster healing through the passions of artists. Lab 8 started as a vision, and now that it’s a reality, I invite you to come and share YOUR interests and creativity.
